About Me

I love capturing content, even if I don't have my camera, I'm probably taking a picture with my iPhone. For me, it's about finding moments that are captivating and engaging, content that keeps you watching until the very last frame.

My Story

I'm Amal Abshir, founder of Amalfilms. While I appreciate photography, video is my true love. I've never been one to stay still, I'm always learning, exploring, and discovering what's out there, especially in the worlds of lifestyle, fashion, and beauty.

My journey started at 17, helping my sister create content for Instagram as she grew her community. In 2019, I bought my first camera and dove in headfirst, filming travel videos across Japan and Turkey, shooting my cousin's wedding, and exploring everything from corporate work to wedding videography. That's when I discovered my passion for capturing love stories.

By 2020, I officially launched Amalfilms with a focus on weddings, and grew quickly within Toronto's wedding scene. In 2021, Canon selected me for their Future Creators program, where I created content for the brand while continuing to build Amalfilms. Since then, I've been blessed to shoot weddings around the world and work with incredible clients and brands.

Now, as I step into 2026, I'm evolving. While I'll always love weddings, I'm expanding my focus to editorial work, specifically medium to long-form YouTube content and creator-driven projects.

My Approach

My style is cinematic with intention. Whether it's a vlog with carefully crafted B-roll that immerses you in the location, or a brand shoot that's paced perfectly to match the mood and message, I prioritize storytelling that resonates. Every cut, every frame, every transition serves the narrative.

What I Offer

I specialize in videography and editing, with expertise in color grading and growing skills in After Effects. I work primarily in Final Cut Pro X and have experience across weddings, brand collaborations (including Canon), influencer content (Hanancorner, Ismahanco), and narrative projects.

Let’s Work Together
